Pokemon Go is a huge security risk : Pokemon Go is a new Smartphone games which are you can play the endless Pokemon battle. The newly created by Niantic have brought the best in this game with all the fun elements in the game. And most importantly Pokemon Go is the exact replica of Pokemon cartoon series of Japan.
After the few moment of release, Pokemon Go game has become one of the most downloaded in the Google play store and also iTunes. As this game is compatible, many smartphone users have downloaded and enjoyed the first glimpse of the game.
While recently, a high-security risk has been Notice by the Adam Reeve, which he have written in the Tumblr official and mentioned that to play the game you must create an account in the game first. And you have to create the account you have to sign in with either the Google ID or with the account created on Pokemon website (Pokemon.com).
Now this, to sign-in is being noticed by Adam and he claimed that When he started the game by signing in with the Google account to create a Pokemon Go Account then it was redirected to log in. Now here the main fact appeared when he found that there was an ordinary message like what kind of data the game will get access to- saying “This app will be able to view your email address and name” while in the login process. And after that it proceeds to complete the login, now he wanted to check about which permissions has been granted. Here seeing the granted permission of Pokemon account has given him a big shock as it says -Pokemon Go has full the access to your Google account you sign in.
Adam Reeve claimed the Full amount access in the Google Account can lead to security risk
Here with concern to that message, He also checks on the Google help page about the matters and really he found that When a user grant full account access, then the application can see and modify all information in your Google Account you had.
So this is a little creepy moment for the Google Users, as “Full account access” means that you have granted permission to applications of the Game to peek into your account freely. While on the Google help page it is also interpreted that Full access determined “should only be granted to applications you fully trust, and which are installed on your personal computer, phone, or tablet.”
And now Adam come up with the clear conclusion that- Pokemon Go game and Niantic can do the following within your account, like-
- Read all your email from your inbox
- Reply or send an email as if it was you
- They could access all your Google drive documents and also delete them.
- They also have full access to look into your search history and your Maps navigation history
- And with all that full access, no your private photos is also at risk which you are storing in Google Photos
What are the solution for preventing such high-security Risk in Pokemon Go
Recently, taking care with the question raised by Adam Reeve for Pokemon Go to be highly risky with the Google Account “Full amount Access”, many experts have brought down the solution to this situation. You can also have the privacy on the account even after you have access to the Pokemon Go game account is created. So for those who have sign up with your Google account, follow the below steps-
- After you have successfully created an account in Pokemon Go, here next step you should do is; Now enter and login to your Google account and open up the Apps connected to your account page.
- In the page search for the “Pokemon Go,” after you have found it now click to “Remove Access” which will automatically block any access to your Google account
- Finally, click on the OK button to confirm it.
This is the only way for all the iOS device users who are experiencing the Full amount access in their Google Account. But as the Niantic also ensure that the full access permission is only for the sake of utilising the basic information for the player Google account like name, phone number etc. and not to access the Google drive and delete the documents.
While the Niantic have warned the users that any player can download and install the app only from the Google play store or the iTunes. And those who download the game from the unknown source, then the Niantic will not be the responsible for getting affected by the malware and viruses- announced by Niantic officials.

Pokemon Go response against the Risk of Security
Especially noticed on iOS users, when creating the account for Pokemon Go using the Google ID they asked for the full access permission for the user’s Google account. However, the game Pokemon GO only uses the basic Google profile information like User ID, email address phone numbers. And also it makes sure that beside this other Google account information is not access or used.
When such error occurs, they start working on a client’s problem regarding privacy and brought a solution i.e. to request permission only for basic Google profile information. Besides Google has also verified to such matter that except the basic information no other are received by Pokémon GO or Niantic. However, Google will try to reduce Pokemon Go can make access to only the basic profile data in the user’s Google account necessary for the game and thus ensuring the player to download and install the game without any fear.
So these are the fact behind the trouble caused in the Pokemon Go game created by Niantic. While there is also a solution which you can provide immediately after you create the Pokemon Go account in your Google settings. And even Google have claimed that the full access permission of Pokemon Go, have read only up to the basic information of the user they are a necessary part of the game to set the username and other stuff in the game. So there was no much risk in the security measure, but it is good to take precaution block the full access to the Google account.
